One Year Bible

Below you'll find three one-year Bible reading schedules (click on the desired month for the corresponding pdf file). Or check your mailboxes and the back table at church for hard copies of each month's chronological schedule. Note: In 2006, only the first schedule below was available. Now for 2007, a chronological one year Bible reading plan as well as a straight through reading plan are also available.

One Year Combined Bible Reading Schedule
(Each day's reading includes New Testament, Old Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs)

Chronological One Year Bible Reading Schedule
(Each day's reading follows the order that the Bible is believed to be written in)

Straight-Through Bible Reading Schedule
(Each day's reading moves from Genesis - Revelation, the way the Bible is compiled)

Note:
The schedules are in pdf format and require Adobe Reader to open them.

Why Are We Doing This?

The Holy Bible has survived for thousands of years as the Word of God.  Within it we find God’s plan of redemption for the entire world and receive a beautiful picture of his invitation for enjoying life with Him.  At Bridge of Hope, we hold the Bible up as the one rule of faith that governs everything we do.  It contains words of life, encouragement, blessing, and command.  It is nothing short of God’s way of speaking directly to us!

Now the Bible contains 1,189 chapters or 31,102 verses.  I know, that sounds like a lot of ground to cover.  However, spending approximately 15 minutes/day (reading less than 4 chapters at a time) will take you through every page!

There are of course, many programs or plans available for how exactly to read the Bible in one year and I have spent some time researching as many of them as possible.  Inevitably, I ended up being most drawn to a system that covers a piece of the OT, a piece of the NT, part of the Psalms, and a few Proverbs every day.  I believe that the variety will help us all get the most out of that each day’s texts, tying the whole Bible together as one coherent unit.

Going Even Deeper: For any of you who are keeners or if you ever struggle through the meaning of a passage as we go, I found a website that uses the same calendar we will be.  It has scholarly commentary for each day’s passages.  Therefore, if you ever want to read additional study notes or a qualified theologian’s more thorough explanation of a text, visit www.oneyearbibleonline.com.  Once there, just click on the month, date, and then scroll down to “view commentary related to this passage.”  Note: If you’re not a big reader, this site will also allow you to listen to the passages for that day.

In Ephesians 6:10-18, Paul lists the pieces of the armor of God.  Note that only one of those listed is an offensive weapon: “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”  If you ever wanted to move forward in your personal life or as a church, this is the way God gives us to do it.

                                                                                    Yours in Christ, Pastor Aaron.
