SHEPHERDING TEAM
"Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority,
because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account.
Do this so that their work would be of benefit to you."
Hebrews 13:17
Bridge of Hope Ministries is a "gifts-based ministry." By that, we mean that people serve in a variety of capacities within our church based on the gifts that God has given them and that the rest of the church has recognized and affirmed. We select our leaders based on this same model, believing it to be Scriptural and full of accountability structures. Our leadership has three "offices."
Pastoral Shepherd:
Our pastoral shepherd team is the group often referred to in Scripture as "overseers" or "elders." Their responsibilities include setting and maintaining spiritual direction for the church, administering the day-to-day operations within the congregation, providing pastoral care, and holding the entire body accountable to our shared goals and values.
Our current pastoral shepherds are:
- Mark Borger
-
Robb DeHaan
-
Pres Moerman
Service Shepherds:
At Bridge of Hope, service shepherds fulfill the duties often historically associated with the term, "deacons." In other words, they look out for and attend to the physical needs that arise within our church comunity as well as our greater community in and around Sioux Center. They participate in acts of mercy and kindness in an official capacity on behalf of the church. Furthermore, they manage the financial obligations of the church.
Our current service shepherds are:
- Norm TeKrony (chair of the service shepherding team)
- Nick Doelman
- Tim Bajema
Pastor:
The third official office in our church is that of pastor. The pastor serves alongside the pastoral and service shepherds, assisiting them in their roles as well as participating in their ministries too. He also coordinates weekly worship and preaching.
Our pastor is:
Aaron Baart
